Temporary Power Services for Culver City
Los Angeles Temporary Power serves general contractors, builders, and homeowners in Culver City and the surrounding Los Angeles-area communities. We handle the work end to end, from the first phone call through the final cleanup, so your Culver City project keeps moving without the runaround. If you are still weighing up which build suits the space, our temporary power services lays the options out side by side before you commit to anything.
Culver City Permits and Edison Service
Culver City runs its own building department and is served by Southern California Edison. It is a small city with a very large amount of construction relative to its size, and the plan check queue reflects that. Filing early is the whole game here. We pull Culver City electrical permits regularly and file the SCE service request alongside the application rather than after approval, which is usually worth a week or more on a schedule where the surrounding trades are already booked.
Studio Builds and the Hayden Tract
The work splits fairly cleanly. Around the studios and the office campuses off Washington and National, it is commercial tenant improvement and media production, which brings quiet generator packages, cam-lock distribution and interior string lighting rather than towable equipment. In the Hayden Tract and the industrial pockets it is adaptive reuse of older buildings, where the existing service is frequently undersized or unusable and the temporary service has to carry a full trade list for a year. The residential streets north of Culver Boulevard are standard remodel work on 100A. Whichever it is, staging space is scarce and worth planning around.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is temporary power?
Temporary power is a metered electrical service installed to run a construction site before the permanent service exists. On most jobs it is a temp pole or pedestal carrying a meter socket, a main breaker and GFCI receptacles, permitted through the city and energized by LADWP or SCE. It runs the tools, the lifts, the trailer and the site lighting until the building has its own service.
How do I get temporary power in Los Angeles?
Call us with the site address and what you plan to run. We spec the amperage, pull the electrical permit with LADBS or your local jurisdiction, file the service request with the utility, build and set the pedestal, and meet the inspector for the green tag. You sign one contract and we handle the rest of it.
How long does it take to get temporary power?
Two to three weeks is typical across LA County, and almost all of that is permit review plus the utility queue rather than our install, which is a single day. If your schedule is tighter than that, a generator rental covers the gap and comes off rent the day the meter is released.
What is the difference between temporary power and permanent power?
Temporary power is a service permitted for the duration of construction, mounted on a pole or skid, sized for tools rather than the finished building, and removed at the end. Permanent power is the service that stays: the meter, panel and feeders that the building is designed around. Most projects run both for a while, then drop the temp service once the permanent one is energized and inspected.
Do you rent equipment as well as install power?
Yes, and most customers use both. Alongside temp poles we rent diesel and natural gas generators from 20kW to 500kW, towable light towers and LED string lighting, portable AC units and heaters, bonded cellular WiFi for the trailer, and solar camera trailers for overnight security.
What areas do you cover?
All of Los Angeles County. Crews dispatch daily to Long Beach, Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Hollywood, Inglewood, Torrance and West Hollywood, and we regularly run jobs well outside that list. Call with an address and we will tell you the delivery window.
How much does temporary power cost?
It depends on amperage, how far the site is from the utility drop, which jurisdiction issues the permit, and how long the service stays up. We quote a flat price after a short site walk that includes the permit, the install, the inspection and the removal at the end. Call (818) 463-2446 for a free estimate.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are a licensed C-10 electrical contractor in California, fully insured and bonded, and we carry the certificates most general contractors need on file before a vendor sets foot on site. Ask and we will send them the same day.
